Where compassion and innovation intersect.

The Lakeland Center is a non-profit working to provide underserved rural Indiana with access to premier equine therapy practices. We partner with local schools, families, and businesses to empower our clients to heal, grow, and thrive.

Our responsive approach allows us to meet the changing needs of our beloved community. We believe people matter and with your help we can continue to change the lives of those around us.

The Unspoken Neigh

The Unspoken Neigh project is a program dedicated to providing equine therapy to those in need of hope and healing.  Not designed to be a cookie cutter program, Unspoken Neigh provides both individual and group opportunities utilizing the amazing gift of horses God has given us. We believe finding the bond between a horse and a human is a powerful, life changing process.

The Little Bit Club

The Little Bit Club was started shortly after finding success with the Unspoken Neigh project.  The Lakeland Center identified a huge need for elementary students to obtain unique and alternative programs as they were also affected by a pandemic.

The Little Bit Club focuses on providing Unspoken Neigh programming in collaboration with riding lessons and 4-H programs to help our littlest of clients navigate anxiety, social skills, communication, problem solving,  coping, and provide pride in accomplishments.

Adaptive Riding

Therapeutic riding classes combined with biomedical engineering biofeedback technology developed by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to collect hard data on the measurable outcomes of physical progress made by our clients.

“The Lakeland Center changed my son’s life. He went from completely non-verbal to a chatty ray of sunshine after working with Christy and her team.”
